Samhain Feti!

The yarn Feti were this years pumpkin carving assistants!  BlueFetus and Bofrida Fetus posed for some blog-pics with the Selene-Kitty pumpkin!

And, not to leave Mr. Frankenfetus out on his favorite holiday, he rode with me to the mall the other day, and I blinged out his jar first.  Here he is on the dashboard in the parking lot!
What a sexy jar! Good thing his Frankenfetus creator has huge manwrists and her jewelry fits the jars!
In other news, with three new jars for the collection of feti, our newest creations will soon have transportation containers! :) Stay tuned - who knows what the feti will get into this week?

BlueFetus Goes to Tennessee!

BlueFetus Goes to Vanderbilt University!  In particular, Centennial Park!

The top picture is BlueFetus in a really neat tree, and the second picture is BlueFetus at the Parthenon.  The photo of BlueFetus in the "Meet The Feti" post is also from Vanderbilt, overlooking water at this same park.  Thank you to Boyfriend Steve for the pictures!  That's his thumb you see in the second photo.

There are several people who have also volunteered to take Feti on adventures and photograph it for us here on the FetusBlog!  There's one headed to Montana, West Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and New Jersey so far!  There will also be a fetus taking a cross-country ride in an 18-Wheeler for a year! YAY!  And of course, several of my central VA friends also have expressed a desire to participate in the Fetus Adventures.  I'm very excited to see what all of my twisted amigos come up with!

If you have your own yarn fetus (the pattern should be up this week, so all of my fellow hooker-s can make their own), you can e-mail your submissions to fetalfun@gmail.com, which you can click on at the top of the blog!

Bofrida Fetus Goes to Dinner With Casey!

So, on Thursday last week, I took Bofrida Fetus to see Casey! She went on her first car ride (her Ragu jar fits in the cupholder!) AND her first giraffe ride!  Regrettably there were not pictures of Bofrida's first Chorri-Pollo. Enjoy!

Have a bonus pic of my cat Romeo checkin out Bofrida on her first day, in the old jar!

Meet The Feti

Welcome to the Fetus Adventures blog!  This blog is to document the adventures of a fun-loving crew of Feti, crocheted lovingly in a variety of yarns!  You can find a brief "about" on one of those side bars (I'm still learning how to use this blog thingie!), but since this is our inception I feel I should share the whole story first before we launch into the fetus-adventures!
It all started on Regretsy, a wonderful blog about some of the tragic, tragic things people make and post on Etsy for sale.  Someone at some point had made a fugly, hot-pink fetus in a jar and that item got posted on the oh-so-awesome Regretsy.  While I'm pretty sure Regretsy wasn't started to inspire crochet projects, inspire  me it did.  So, with my lovely friend Kory chillin with me on the couch (as I am actually teaching her to crochet, and she was working on some scarves), I set out, sans-pattern, to create a yarn fetus.  My only regret is that I didn't immediately write down the pattern as I was going, because the first one (known as Bofrida Fetus, the light pink one in the picture) was AWESOME!  Complete with umbilical cord, Bofrida Fetus first got carted around in a recycled Mayo jar, and then (because of the cloudiness of the plastic) was upgraded to a glass Ragu jar.
I posted the first picture via AT&T mobile share to my Facebook, and indeed got some interesting reactions.  People thought it was some kind of statement on abortion, or stem-cell research, or whatever it is people do with feti anymore.  Some people even thought it was Katie-jealousy of not having her own real babies, which is the silliest of all of the initial reactions.  (Cats, not kids, folks, cats not kids).  Yarn feti are much MUCH cheaper and hassle-free than real ones!  However, there were a few friends who "got it."  The only message, if there is any at all - LIGHTEN UP! IT'S JUST YARN! SO what if it looks like a fetus.  It's not THAT serious! So, brief shout-out to those of you who got it - most notably Krystal and Chad, who met Bofrida Fetus on her birthday.
So, of course, one fetus is NEVER enough, just ask the octo-mom.  So, with Bernat Baby Clouds "Mint" and the same F-hook, fetus #2 was begun.  With a new-and-improved twisted-braid umbilical cord, which I once again failed to document a pattern for, FrankenFetus was born!   FrankenFetus is also shown in the attached photos for this blog.
The next night, once again while hangin' with Krystal and Chad, I started Blue Fetus, who I think may get a name upgrade soon.  As we speak, Blue Fetus is in Tennessee, at Vanderbilt University, with my kick-ass boyfriend Steve, who is humoring my Fetus Adventures quite admirably.  A full upload of BlueFetus's Tennessee adventures will be posted probably Monday.
After madly digging through my yarn stash (literally, plastic buckets and tubs of yarn), I found some very fetus-suitable colors.  There are several more feti in-progress, and a pattern in the works as well! Be excited, world, be excited.

So there's your intro to the Feti! Let the adventures begin!  I am armed with a digital camera and twisted little mind, so get ready, web-world!
